Good Morning and welcome to new
horizons church UK and Yeshua international
And
the Old Roman Catholic Church In England
This
Service represents the first Sunday after Trinity
today
also represents Corpus Christi
we start with these special
prayers of the day
Let
us pray
[to the Lord who gives himself in the Eucharist
that this sacrament may bring us salvation and peace]
Lord Jesus Christ,
you gave us the Eucharist
as the memorial of your suffering and death.
May our worship of this sacrament of your body and blood
help us to experience the salvation you won for us
and the peace of the kingdom
where you live with the Father and the Holy Spirit,
one God, for ever and ever. Amen.Almighty and everlasting God,
you have given to us you servants grace,
by the confession of a true faith,
to acknowledge the glory of the eternal Trinity,
and in the power of your divine Majesty
to worship the Unity:
Keep us steadfast in this faith and worship,
and bring us at last
to see you in your one and eternal glory, O Father;
who with the Son and the Holy Spirit live and reign,
one God, for ever and ever. Amen.
Almighty
and ever-living God,
give us new strength
from the courage of Christ our shepherd,
and lead us to join the saints in heaven,
where he lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit,
one God, for ever and ever. Amen.
O
LORD, from whom all good things do come: Grant to
us thy humble servants, that by thy holy inspiration we may think those
things
that be good, and by thy merciful guiding may perform the same; through
our
Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.
I
would now like to say a prayer for our
patron saint
Saint
Francis
Lord,
make me an instrument of your peace.
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
where there is injury ,pardon;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
and where there is sadness, joy.
O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek
to be consoled as to console;
to be understood as to understand;
to be loved as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive;
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned;
and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life. Amen

The
Liturgy of the Word
Reading
1
Kings 17.8-16(17-24)
8The
word of the LORD came to
Elijah, saying, 9‘Go now to Zarephath, which belongs to
Sidon, and live there;
for I have commanded a widow there to feed you.’ 10So he set
out and went to
Zarephath. When he came to the gate of the town, a widow was there
gathering
sticks; he called to her and said, ‘Bring me a little water
in a vessel, so
that I may drink.’ 11As she was going to bring it, he called
to her and said,
‘Bring me a morsel of bread in your hand.’ 12But
she said, ‘As the LORD your
God lives, I have nothing baked, only a handful of meal in a jar, and a
little
oil in a jug; I am now gathering a couple of sticks, so that I may go
home and
prepare it for myself and my son, that we may eat it, and
die.’ 13Elijah said
to her, ‘Do not be afraid; go and do as you have said; but
first make me a
little cake of it and bring it to me, and afterwards make something for
yourself and your son. 14For thus says the LORD the God of Israel: The
jar of
meal will not be emptied and the jug of oil will not fail until the day
that
the LORD sends rain on the earth.’ 15She went and did as
Elijah said, so that
she as well as he and her household ate for many days. 16The jar of
meal was
not emptied, neither did the jug of oil fail, according to the word of
the LORD
that he spoke by Elijah.
17After
this the son of the woman, the
mistress of the house, became ill; his illness was so severe that there
was no
breath left in him. 18She then said to Elijah, ‘What have you
against me, O man
of God? You have come to me to bring my sin to remembrance, and to
cause the
death of my son!’ 19But he said to her, ‘Give me
your son.’ He took him from
her bosom, carried him up into the upper chamber where he was lodging,
and laid
him on his own bed. 20He cried out to the LORD, ‘O LORD my
God, have you
brought calamity even upon the widow with whom I am staying, by killing
her
son?’ 21Then he stretched himself upon the child three times,
and cried out to
the LORD, ‘O LORD my God, let this child’s life
come into him again.’ 22The
LORD listened to the voice of Elijah; the life of the child came into
him
again, and he revived. 23Elijah took the child, brought him down from
the upper
chamber into the house, and gave him to his mother; then Elijah said,
‘See,
your son is alive.’ 24So the woman said to Elijah,
‘Now I know that you are a
man of God, and that the word of the LORD in your mouth is
truth.’
Psalm
Psalm
146
Refrain:
The Lord shall reign for
ever.
1Alleluia.
Praise the Lord, O my soul:
while I live will I praise the Lord; ♦
as long as I have any being,
I will sing praises to my God.
2Put
not your trust in princes,
nor in any human power, ♦
for there is no help in them.
3When
their breath goes forth, they return to the earth; ♦
on that day all their thoughts perish. R
4Happy
are those who have the God of Jacob for their help, ♦
whose hope is in the Lord their God;
5Who
made heaven and earth,
the sea and all that is in them; ♦
who keeps his promise for ever;
6Who
gives justice to those that suffer wrong ♦
and bread to those who hunger. R
7The
Lord looses those that are bound; ♦
the Lord opens the eyes of the blind;
8The
Lord lifts up those who are bowed down; ♦
the Lord loves the righteous;
9The
Lord watches over the stranger in the land;
he upholds the orphan and widow; ♦
but the way of the wicked he turns upside down.
10The
Lord shall reign for ever, ♦
your God, O Zion, throughout all generations.
Alleluia.
Refrain:
The Lord shall reign for
ever.
Lord
of all,
our breath and being come from you,
yet our earthly end is dust;
as you loose the bound and feed the hungry,
so bring us in your mercy through the grave and gate of death
to the feast of eternal life,
where you reign for evermore.

Reading
Luke
7.11-17
11Jesus
went to a town called Nain,
and his disciples and a large crowd went with him. 12As he approached
the gate
of the town, a man who had died was being carried out. He was his
mother’s only
son, and she was a widow; and with her was a large crowd from the town.
13When
the Lord saw her, he had compassion for her and said to her,
‘Do not weep.’ 14Then
he came forward and touched the bier, and the bearers stood still. And
he said,
‘Young man, I say to you, rise!’ 15The dead man sat
up and began to speak, and
Jesus gave him to his mother. 16Fear seized all of them; and they
glorified
God, saying, ‘A great prophet has risen among us!’
and ‘God has looked
favourably on his people!’ 17This word about him spread
throughout Judea and
all the surrounding country.
Sermon
Today
we celebrate Corpus Christi
which celebrates the Eucharist as the body of Christ. The name 'Corpus
Christi' is Latin for 'the body of Christ'. The main
feature of Corpus Christi celebrations is the triumphant liturgical
procession
in which the sacred host (the wafer that has been consecrated during
the Mass)
is carried out of the Church "for the Christian faithful to make public
profession of faith and worship of the Most Blessed Sacrament".
unfortunately
in the UK the carrying out of the Most Blessed Sacrament is no longer
that
common in the UK. This feast parallels that of Maundy Thursday. In this
truly
amazing feast which is now called the solemnity
of
the Body and Blood
of Christ. We remember and again celebrate this true and lasting
miracle. Think
about it, we can receive the flesh and blood of Our God! We can truly
receive
our Creator in a way so that we might have life within us! The
Institution of
the Eucharist changed the world. We must contemplate this miracle
before
receiving Our Lord at every single Mass. In every form of
communion, mass or Holy
Eucharist that we take part in we are remembering Christ and what he
did for us
and are honoring him in this single act. How many of us who take
communion
truly rejoice in what they are doing in this one single act of faith.
When we
share in communion we become a part of Christ. We receive This through
the Holy
Spirit and through the Holy Spirit we remember Christ.
We
hear in the reading from Luke that Jesus raised a man from the Dead.
This is
one of the many incredible miracles that Jesus performed. The word in
this case
was truly powerful and did indeed as we know spread throughout Judea
and the
surrounding country. Words are one of the most powerful
weapons that we posses, more powerful than a
sword or other handheld weapon. Words have been known to start wars
between two
people. When used in the wrong hands words can kill. The only words
that Jesus
used were of Love and peace and to teach others about the word of God.
We
should always be careful of the words that we use that they may cause
offence
even if we did not mean it. Let us think now about two words "LOVE"
and "PEACE" two very powerful words. Love is what we show for others
like our loved ones and our love of God. Peace is what we should all
live
together. United in Love and Peace for God our Lord and ourselves and
one
another.
I
would now like to introduce His Eminence Cardinal Dr Peter Edwards.
Thank
you your eminence for your touching words this morning
Will
you please now
join me in
The
Nicene Creed
We
believe in one God,
the Father, the Almighty,
maker of heaven and earth,
of all that is, seen and unseen.
We
believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ,
the only Son of God,
eternally begotten of the Father,
God from God, light from light,
true God from true God,
begotten, not made,
of one Being with the Father;
through him all things were made.
For us and for our salvation
he came down from heaven,
was incarnate of the Holy Spirit and the Virgin Mary
and became truly human.
For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate;
he suffered death and was buried.
On the third day he rose again
in accordance with the Scriptures;
he ascended into heaven
and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead,
and his kingdom will have no end.
We
believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life,
who proceeds from the Father [and the Son],
who with the Father and the Son is worshiped and glorified,
who has spoken through the prophets.
We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church.
We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins.
We look for the resurrection of the dead,
and the life of the world to come. Amen

affect us but also our wildlife.
Heavenly
Father, of
all the changes we have to face as we journey through life, the hardest
of all
is the loss through death of someone we love. LORD, you know everything
about
each one of us and you see and feel our pain, our tears, our
loneliness, our
regrets and our despair. Comfort us in our sorrow and help us to move
on.
Change the, at times, overwhelming grief and sadness to peaceful
acceptance and
our weakness to strength. Help us to cope and to adjust to a different
pattern
of life, never for a moment forgetting those who have gone, but
trusting You to
keep them safe for us. Help us to remember that Spring always follows
Winter.
Through
dying for us
on the cross, Jesus has conquered death and opened the gates of glory.
May we
know, through your grace, the sure and certain hope of the Resurrection
and new
life. We ask these prayers in the Name of our LORD and Saviour, Jesus
Christ.
